We're going to be honest with you, the main person running Social Media Tea is not doing well. We're tired and mentally burnt out from the past year of chaos. And realizing that today's tea post on Instagram once again missed the mark kind of broke us. We promised we would be better about this sort of thing after fucking up in October, and to have this happen again is disappointing on so many levels. It's clear to us that we're not as focused as we should be and just going through the motions right now.
We sincerely apologize to our peers who work as journalists. You do incredibly important work—especially right now—and we're sorry that today's Instagram post demeaned the quality and validity of that work. It has been removed but is referenced at the end of this post for archival purposes. As with the last time that we disappointed the Social Media Tea community, the feelings of the person who submitted that tea are still valid, but it was unfair for us to call out our friends in journalism. We try exceptionally hard to make sure that everyone who works in marketing and communications feels properly supported and understood. We're sorry that that wasn't the case today.
To recharge, we're going to take a short break from posting. The Social Media Tea community deserves better than half-assed efforts from a team that is, quite frankly, fucking tired and not feeling it right now. There will be no new posts on our Instagram, Twitter, or Facebook for the rest of February. Thank you for understanding. We'll see everyone in March!
Be kind to each other.
With Love and Chaos,
The Social Media Tea(m)
